August 2021 | Praise and Prayer Update

July was an incredibly busy, fruitful, and enjoyable month. So much went into the ministry and our personal lives. I appreciate your prayer, sacrifice, and involvement to help see the Gospel go forward here in Brazil.

One of the first blessings of the month was that my family was able to be with us for almost the entire month. My mom and older sister arrived on the 6th and my dad came a week later. What a joy it was for them to be with us again! Even though it was very cold the entire time they were here, we were still able to enjoy the beautiful places and people God has given us to minister. They were such an encouragement to us. Towards the end of the month, we learned that Jamie’s 98-year-old great-grandma passed away. While we are sad at her passing, we are so thankful for her salvation, Heaven, and legacy. My folks helped me for a few days while Jamie was able to travel for the funeral.

It wasn’t just family that came to be with us, but we had a youth conference as well the third week of July. I was able to preach one of the nights and several young people accepted Christ as their Saviour that week. I had the opportunity to talk with Gabriel and his girlfriend, Ruth, on Tuesday night. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to work in their hearts and lives and that they would understand their need for salvation.

Another blessing was Leo’s baptism. Bro. Ed and I made a visit last year to Leo’s parents who both got saved. Leo too had made a profession of faith but it was not until March of this year while making a soul-winning visit with us that he was truly born again! Praise the Lord, he humbled himself and accepted Christ as his Saviour. The real test of obedience was baptism in July with no heater. That means cold water. Praise the Lord we had a blessed time during the baptismal service as he followed the Lord in obedience. It’s so exciting to watch Leo’s heart and love for the Lord grow. Please pray for this fine young man and his family.

Perhaps the most exciting piece of news that I want to share is our future plans here in Brazil. The Lord has directed us to the neighboring city of Pindamonhangaba. We are excited to already be assembling the needed people and resources to accomplish the work there. The city is about 180,000 and is only about 30 minutes away from where we currently live. The neighborhood we are targeting is large, well-established and to our knowledge does not have a single Gospel-preaching church there. It is certainly exciting and all the same, we know that challenges lie ahead. Please continue in prayer with us about this great need and that the Lord would continue to bless with salvations, baptisms, and growth for His praise and glory!
