May and June have absolutely flown by. It’s been an extremely busy time here at the Putnam house as we continue to make preparations for Victory Baptist Church in Pinda.
One of our church neighbors Miss Luzia passed by the building while we were working inside. She would pass several times a day and we always stopped to talk with her. On one occasion she asked if we had any Bibles that she could have. I went to go get one and when I came back she asked me for 2 more – one for her daughter and one for her daughter-in-law. Please pray for Miss Luzia and her family as they need the Lord. We’re excited to be able to already begin ministering to her. Another contact that we made there at the church was Patricia and her daughter Joyce. I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with her and her daughter. They both gave a testimony of being born again several years ago but asked for prayer for her husband André who is not saved. Please pray for him that he too would trust Christ as his Saviour. Bro. Jonathan met Eurico out on the street and we went back and followed up with him where we met his cousin Claudemir. Both men have made difficult choices in life and are suffering the consequences. What a joy it was to be able to sit down and spend several hours with them, answering their questions and giving the Gospel. While they certainly have many challenges confronting them, they both made the most important decision of their lives in trusting Christ as their Savior. Please pray that as we start discipleship with them here this week God will do the work that only He can do!
So much time and effort have gone into getting the building of Victory Baptist Church ready. While we recognize that a building is just a building, it is with the great expectation of what He will do in our midst come August! God has answered so many prayers and we’re so excited to have this opportunity. We have our first of three getting acquainted meetings on Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 pm. Please pray for these meetings as once more we make contacts and strive to present the Gospel to those that will be there.
I praise the Lord for the opportunity as well to have begun soul-winning and invitation distribution in Pinda. We have already distributed 10,000 flyers and have another 20,000 ready to go. Our goal is 50,000 invites before the inauguration. Pray also as a container of 50,000 John and Romans, as well as other Gospel literature, is due to arrive here in country within days. Please pray that we can get the material that we need and that we can continue to get the Gospel out effectively. We praise the Lord we’re all healthy and well. The kids are growing like weeds and we’re excited that Lainey will be starting kindergarten here in just a few weeks. Also on a personal note, please continue to pray for our housing situation. Long story short, our entire visa process needs to be approved before we can purchase a home. This is not a difficult process but we need a background check from the US which can take a while to process and receive here.
