Victory Baptist Church had its inaugural services on August 5-7 and, praise the Lord, we had a wonderful kickoff. Many, many hours were put into making it a reality.
We had our first getting acquainted meeting on July 21 with 9 people from the community in attendance. We didn’t know what to expect but we had 2 new contacts that we had not previously met that were in attendance. Bruno was one of them. He came by himself the first week, and as we talked with him, it became very obvious that he and his family are in great need of a good church. Please pray for Bruno and Vanessa and their 3 children. We’re praying for an open door to be able to minister to this family.
It’s amazing as we’ve talked with people and made visits how many have mentioned to me they were praying for a Bible preaching church in their area. While Pinda has several Baptist churches, there is very little Gospel outreach by way of soulwinning and discipling. Pinda is still extremely Catholic and we’re praying for the Lord to give us open doors as we continue to spread God’s Word.
Our first Sunday Silvana and Fatima were lost by the church. Jonata helped them with directions and then invited them to come. They came that Sunday night and that same week we were able to visit them and praise the Lord they both trusted Christ as their Savior! Please pray for this mom and her daughter to take the next step of baptism and growth. Please also pray for Alfredo and Patrícia. Their oldest, Eduardo, is and 19 and lost and as of yet has not shown any interest in hearing from God’s Word about his condition or his need. Please pray for the Lord to work in his heart and give us an open door.
In preparation for the inauguration and meetings, we passed out nearly 30,000 invites, plus nearly 8,000 John and Romans. We praise the Lord for your prayer for the container from Wings Bearing Precious Seed. We received not only our material but hundreds of thousands of pieces for other ministries as well. Thankfully, getting everything out of the container and over to the church went as smoothly as possible. Two young men from Taubaté helped us move the nearly 200 boxes. July 30 we had 52 people working in Pinda, between Gospel literature distribution and a cleaning day at the church. What a blessing it was to have the help of New Life Baptist Church in Taubaté!
We said goodbye to New Life Baptist Church on July 31. What a joyful, bittersweet service it was. We sang the special and I had the opportunity to preach. We dearly love this church and are so thankful to Ed and Maribel Johnson being so kind to us during our service in Taubaté. God has given us such a wonderful opportunity as we go forward for Him in Pinda!
Please continue to pray for our housing situation. Lainey started school a few weeks ago and Clayton and Silas are growing too fast! I’m thankful my brother Luke was able to be with us during August. We love you and appreciate you all!
