March 2023 | Praise and Prayer Report

February and March have been busy times for us. We praise the Lord that we completed the move to Pinda a few weeks ago and are getting settled into the new house nicely. It’s just a 10-minute walk to the church and enables us to be right where the Lord has put us to serve and minister to our neighbors and city.

While the move to Pinda certainly has kept us busy we praise the Lord for the recent baptisms here at Victory Baptist. On the first Sunday of March, we had 3 baptisms, each was so special. Lainey was the first one baptized and that was a joy for me, especially as a father. She had trusted Christ back in July. After her, Jonata’s mom who was saved some time ago was baptized. This was a huge step for her and it was a joy to have most of Jonata’s lost family with us for this special time as well. Please continue to pray for his family to understand and accept the Gospel. Lastly, Gisele was baptized. This was an extremely big step for her as the cult she was saved out of has a strong grip on those that are a part of it. She had invited her friend Kelly to come as well. They knew each other through this cult and Kelly’s husband, who gave a salvation testimony, and her two kids came as well. What a joy it was to see Gisele take such a big step of obedience in spite of her family’s ties. Once again I ask that you be in specific prayer for her and Luciano, who still is not saved. It’s incredible to see the joy and transformation; the Holy Spirit is working in her life.

On the same day as the baptismal service, we had baby dedication in the evening service. We praise the Lord for the 3 babies that were dedicated – including our youngest, Silas – and for their parents’ desire to raise their children for His honor and glory!

Bro. Celestino lives in the next city over from Taubaté away from us. I’ve known him for some time and the Lord has opened the door for him to work with a WhatsApp prayer line. It’s been neat to see as people have gotten in contact with him how the Lord has allowed him to be a witness over the phone or in making visits. The city he’s in is Caçapava and needs a good fundamental Baptist church. Please pray for his work as well as for the Lord to open the door for people to be saved, baptized, discipled, and organized to form a Gospel-preaching church there in Caçapava.

The day we moved into our new house I saw a man collecting recycling right in front of our house. I immediately recognized him. It was Claudemir (mentioned him some time ago) who I had not seen or talked to in at least 5 months. His phone service had been disconnected and he lived pretty far from the church. He told me he was living once again in the next neighborhood from the church. Please continue to be in prayer for him and his growth in the Lord.

I recently preached at a missions conference at New Life Baptist in Taubaté and was reminded once again of your love, sacrifice, and prayer on our behalf so we can labor here in Brazil. I’ve been thinking of our supporting churches recently after hearing of many going through changes, difficulties, and problems. We love you and pray for you often and are encouraged to continue on as we strive together for the sake of the Gospel.

Love in Christ,

For souls in Brazil,

The Putnam family
