September was an extremely exciting time as we had an opportunity to travel to northern Brazil to get to know 2 Brazilian pastors. Our church’s first faith promise commitment was enough to take on 2 additional projects. I went with Bro. Jonathan, Bro. Henrique (our missionary we already support) and Alexandre, a teen from our church. It was a flying trip (literally!) Five days in the north-eastern state of Piauí. We were able to visit 3 churches and see what the Lord is doing through Pastors Josiel and Apoeme.
One of the days we traveled the several outlying villages that surround the main town. It was a dusty, windy, hot adventure. There are so many blessings and challenges that could be shared about the great need here. One of the couples that we got to meet was Hipolita and Lignacio. Bro. Henrique was able to witness to them both – Pr. Apoeme already had been witnessing to them for nearly 5 years! They didn’t make a decision, but they did come to the church service the next night in Pr. Josiel’s new congregation closest to them. I preached on having a desire for the things of God. Through His Spirit using His Word already presented countless times to them, they finally both were saved! Please keep them in your prayers as well as these 2 dear missionary families laboring for the cause of Christ.
September also marked the arrival of 2 long-awaited needs – our shipping container and discipleship material. The container got here while we were in Piauí but praise the Lord we had a work day one Saturday and were able to get all of our John and Romans to continue canvassing, witnessing, and soulwinning in our city. Also, our discipleship material that was printed here in Brazil was ready. Jamie and I took a day and drove over to a city about 3 hours away and were able to get the material. It’s been so exciting to see other folks in the church get the vision for soulwinning and discipling. We’ve been having on average 5 others with us out for Saturday soulwinning and we have 3 people who have completed discipleship and are now discipling others! Praise the Lord!
It’s been exciting to see the church bring their family members, friends, and neighbors for services. Jediel and Andressa have brought several of their family members. Andressa’s mom, Socorro, is unsaved and I visited her in the hospital a few weeks ago. I was able to witness to her but she has not yet made a decision. Also, Andressa’s brother and sister-in-law, Anderson and Ana, have been coming very faithfully on Sunday evenings but neither are saved. Would you please pray for them to trust Christ?! Also, Raquel, a lady who started coming right after the anniversary conference, is married to Ciro who is not saved. We had the chance to visit with the whole family a few weeks ago and then Ciro’s dad passed away last week. Jonathan and I were able to be at the funeral. How desperately he needs Christ! No hope. Such sadness. Please pray that the Lord will continue softening his heart during these difficult moments.
We have several events happening in the next few weeks if you could be in prayer – Children’s Day, (Oct. 12) we will have an event for kids at the church; Day of the Dead (Nov. 2) we will be witnessing at the cemeteries. We need your prayers and are so humbled by your continued faithful financial support. We love you all and pray for you often. May the Lord continue to bless you all richly!
All for Christ,
Keith, Jamie, Lainey, Clayton and Silas Putnam
