April was an exciting month for us at Victory Baptist. We had our first missionary with us and it was encouraging to hear Bro. Henrique share what the Lord is doing through him. Our mission’s conference is this upcoming June 16-18. Please pray that the Lord will increase our vision and desire for reaching lost souls.
We also were able to have a family visit who had just moved to the area from northern Brazil. In visiting the family after they had come to church, I had the opportunity to witness to the entire family. The mom, Erica, trusted Christ as her Saviour. Please pray for Damion, Erica, Igor (9), and Esther (3). This is a young family with many needs. Please pray for growth in their lives and for salvation for the kids.
The end of April was our first teen activity. We worked to get out invitations all over town and especially to friends of members of the church with teens. I would love to say that I was able to participate, but the morning of our first meeting I began having severe body pains. I was out with Bro. Jonathan at the time and I decided that I would lie down until the youth activity started. It became quickly obvious, however, that I wasn’t going to be going to the activity. We decided I needed to go to the hospital. After a few hours, it was confirmed that I had dengue fever. This mosquito-borne disease rarely is fatal, but does require careful attention as it depletes your body of blood platelets. The only remedy is lots of rest and lots of water. I arrived home Saturday afternoon feeling pretty well, but by Sunday, I was down for the count. I spent the next 4 days in bed and was given an additional 5 days of bed rest. Needless to say, I am well. I know many were unaware as it happened quickly, but I do want to thank those that pray for us faithfully. Your prayer does make a difference! Lord willing I’ll be 100% back on my feet within the next few days. There is much work to do and the laborers are few – especially when the mosquitos take them out!
Our container of John and Romans and tracts should be headed our way shortly. We are very excited about receiving this material and using it for the furtherance of the Gospel here in Pinda. Bro. Allen Johnson with Wings Bearing Precious Seed is coordinating a trip to be with us from July 31 through August 7 of this year. If you are looking for an opportunity to be a part of a missions trip we would love to have you with Bro. Allen’s group. If you’re interested, please get in contact with me ASAP. This group will be here to distribute John and Romans, make personal visits, and be a part of our first anniversary here at Victory Baptist. Please pray for the planning of this trip and that many will be reached as a result of this effort.
Even with such an adventurous start to May, we are on target to finish school with Lainey in just 2 short weeks! It’s been a whirlwind year of school and it’s been exciting to watch Lainey grow spiritually and academically! Hard to believe in just a few months we’ll have 2 in school! Jamie has been working incredibly hard to take care of all of us and I can’t express how blessed I am she’s at my side. We love you all and are so appreciative of your prayer and financial support so that we can continue to labor here in Pindamonhangaba for the cause of Christ!
Love in Christ,
