Psalm 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 107:9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
We are easily cumbered with the satisfaction that the world so readily and cheaply offers. To be sure, there can be no satisfaction for His child outside of Him. The greatest problem with the worldly satisfaction is that is like drinking from the ocean–never ending supply but does nothing to slake your thirst. Rather, it only exacerbates it. When I come to the place that Christ is enough. Sufficient. Then and only then can I find the true joy that He so desires me to partake. And choosing that satisfaction in Him is a daily, sometimes momentary, task. When the temptation for cheap satisfaction comes to me by way of social media, conversation, advertisement, or just my own volition, I must remember that Satan too offered Christ cheap satisfaction–apart from His glory and majesty. And His only remedy? Combat the temptation with the eternal truths of God’s Word. Satisfaction cannot come apart from obedient trusting of His Word and Truth. I must choose today to rest content, satisfied in Christ.
