August was certainly a busy month. Little by little, New Life Baptist Church been able to reestablish ministries that were stopped at the beginning of the quarantine. The last Saturday of every month is a Great Commission emphasis – families are encouraged to come and be a part of the many aspects of the soul winning and outreach. We were able to go as a family and hand out invites for the upcoming 5th-anniversary conference. Please be in prayer for the conference, September 19-20. Bro. Mark Bosje, missions pastor from First Baptist Church, Hammond, IN, will be coming and preaching. Please pray that many souls will be reached with the Gospel. Bro. Ed was able to secure the use of a much larger building on the property to ensure that we will have ample room for the conference in spite of the social distancing measures in place. In conjunction with the conference, we will be having a 2-week emphasis on soul winning, visitors, and getting the Gospel out. Please pray for the next few weeks here that the Lord would bless our time and effort.
Language school continues on. I feel that there is no adequate way to describe how very blessed we have been to be here with Bro. Ed and New Life Baptist Church during this time. We have been helped, challenged, and have grown already in our short time here. We’ve been able to have daily classes either at the church or through Zoom, and the material and teachers have been amazing. The Lord has given us opportunities to practice our language. It’s definitely a stretching and learning time. Thankfully the Lord has blessed our time of school and I do feel that we are progressing well. There are many times when I feel wholly inadequate – with just about everything! We’ve learned to laugh at ourselves – probably more than we care to admit – and learn on the go. I’m quite sure that we have a ways to go, but the Lord has been very gracious to us. These updates at times are not very exciting, but that’s the reality of life these days- patient learning and trying to allow God to use us in spite of us.
I’ve had the opportunity to preach and witness and Jamie has been able to work with the kids. It’s definitely a challenge for us, but through your prayer and God’s power, we’ve been able to come this far. We know that certain challenges are and will be present that never existed just months ago. Let’s determine to keep our eyes on Christ and be steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the Lord’s work.
