It’s hard to describe all that the Lord has done for us. I had the opportunity to go to a language school in the city of Ribeiro Preto last Friday. There I was able to meet 2 men who have just arrived in Brazil. It’s exciting to see others that have a heart and vision for Brazil!
We left Franca headed for São Paulo and flew out of Guarulhos International Airport to Porto Alegre yesterday morning. We praise the Lord for smooth travels as we arrived here in southern Brazil with no issues.
Here we are staying with Missionary Jeff Nordquist and his family. They have been here in Porto Alegre for 21 years ministering to the gauchos – a proud and traditional people that are often difficult to reach with the Gospel. What a blessing to hear of what God has done here in those years and of all the work that certainly needs to be accomplished still.
We will have the opportunity to attend at least 4 different churches while we are here as well as go soulwinning at a fair where people come from all over Rio Grande do Sul. Pray that the Lord will give us good weather, wisdom, and Spirit-fullness to be able to plant the seed and see fruit for His honor and glory!
In driving over 1800 km we had no issues, our car ran very well, and we never got lost! (Even if we had, I wouldn’t tell you!) The adjustment driving here in Brazil is the motorcyclists and the lombadas – the speed bumps that jar your brains out regardless of how slow you’re moving. Through it all we had a great time having the car. From here on out we’ll be reliant on the missionaries we’re staying with and public transit to get around.
Thank you again for your prayers. God has been so good to us. We have learned so much about Brazil, opportunities here, the great need, and have been reassured of His call to this needy harvest. Our time here in Brazil has flown by. It’s hard to believe we’ll be here for just one more week. Thank you all. Without your love and support, we would not be able to follow His call on our lives.
